Publications
Jennifer Isaacs' books have also been influential in promoting the understanding and appreciation of various strands of indigenous art. Aboriginality, for example, brought to a wide public the early work of several artists now widely recognised. As publisher or packager, Jennifer Isaacs offers partnerships and expertise to produce community-owned and controlled publication. Examples of these include Desert Crafts (with Maruku Arts and Crafts), Wandjuk Marika Life Story (with his family), Saltwater (with Buku-Larrngay Arts) and Hermannsburg Potters. Hermannsburg Potters celebrated the then-little known pottery of Aranda family members, mostly women, whose work is now eagerly sought by collectors. This project was awarded a "best practice" certification by the ATSIC survey of art practice in the Communities as an example of business/community partnership. While broadening appreciation of the diverse range of Aboriginal art, these publications have also helped the individuals and communities involved in establishing and strengthening audiences for their art.
